Well, I'm afraid that's right. I explained it once but I'll explain it again. Primera Hora, The newspaper that publishes Yenny in Puerto Rico, (http://www.primerahora.com/), decided to end the Weekend version of the comic strip because they reformated their content and now they have less space than before. I've received a lot of emails asking what happened and some other things. So now I'll answer some FAQ about the subject;
1) I understand that the newspaper won't run the strip, but why don't you continue it online?
- Easy. I'm not being paid for that anymore. Which means that I have to move on with some other projects in order to survive.
2) Wait a minute... But Yenny appears in Gocomics. Don't they pay you for that?
-Yes, but I only receive royalties after they've been shared with like 20 other departments which at the end , three months later, they turn into enough money to buy a #1 Wendy's combo without cheese.
3) Will the Weekend format return someday?
-I hope so. It was fun to draw. I always wanted to make a few complete Yenny adventures like Asterix did and that was the closest to that.
I'd like to continue with the Weekend strips but making comics is my daily life, not a hobby. I love Yenny and her world, but my real world involves two kids and a mortgage, (agh!).
I also appreciate your comments. I'm glad to know that you guys enjoy looking at Yenny as much as I do...(wait, that didn't sound right).
What can you do? Write to Gocomics! Write to the newspapers! Tell them how much you love the blue haired girl and stalk them and follow them to their houses!
Thanks and I hope this answers everyone questions.
-Dave

Can't you sell the comic to another paper?
ResponderSuprimirAnd then repackage the strips for a coffee table book.
